My husband and I spend this past weekend at an amazing sales and recruiting summit good friends and mentors of ours put together. We learned so much life & business altering information, that we just can’t wait to share it all with you. There is so much I want to share! Here are just a couple things I think could help you.
Everyone needs more sales right? Everyone could use more exposure to their business right? I don’t care what type of business you are in, whether it is network marketing, or traditional brick and mortar business, or whatever. We all need more eyes on our products or services in order to grow. As we all run on our hamster wheel trying to just keep going, the world is changing. The way people do business is definitely changing. I am sure my old school business peeps can relate to that. The old way is not working as well as it used to, or even at all for that matter. I started noticing serious changes in the market a few years ago, but have only just this last year started realizing what we were doing wrong. You cant figure out what to do right until you know what you are doing wrong. So don’t look at your failures as failures. Look at them as everything you shouldn’t do. I know we have done just about everything wrong and if it could go wrong it would in our own businesses. And just because it used to work, doesn’t mean it will work now. I know it’s scary for those of us that like to control everything and don’t want anything to change. But there is hope! Here are a couple things I learned this weekend that can really help you & get things moving in the right direction.
Branding. We all recognize certain brands right? Having a personal brand is really important. Like, super important. I didn’t really understand exactly what that meant until recently. I always thought that the brand was the product. NO. Not true! Your brand is really very simple. It is YOU! What people come to expect from you professionally. When you think about everything you post on social media, what does it say? What would people think of you and what would they perceive of you if they just looked at your social media posts? It is very interesting but so super simple! It is what you deliver to the world that becomes your brand identity.
Why is this important?? Attraction marketing. How would you like to have customers coming to you instead of you chasing them down? What exactly are you attracting now? You attract what you are, who you are. You attract people to you by serving people, by educating them and solving their problems. The people that you resonate with. The people that are like you! When you stop selling people, and start serving them something amazing happens. People are not repelled by your salesy tactics. They are honestly grateful for solutions and value. People like to do business with other people they like know and trust. Once they like you, and you continue to serve them with valuable content, entertainment, and education… they are much more likely to become customers. It is super simple really. I understood it with my salon business since I have had some clients for 20 years & have developed relationships with them. But I totally missed the boat with our other companies. I thought the product was the brand identity and I didn’t need the relationship at all. I truly did not understand how important it was. But behind every single sale there is a person…a human being. They do not want to be sold to, just like me! I actually hate sales. It makes me feel like I need to take a shower afterwards. Wouldn’t you rather just serve people? The sales come automatically after that. Social media has leveled the playing field for everyone trying to build a business. It allows us to reveal our true personal brand to a lot of people at once. People that would not have found us otherwise. They can see your face and watch you in a video and get to know who you are and what you are about! Have you ever watched a video of someone and thought, Yes!! I know right?! She gets me. I really like her, and we could totally be friends. That is because we are attracted to like minded individuals we can relate to. There could be 100 people doing what you do, but there is only one you. You can make an impact on your own tribe of people. The ones that will be there with you forever. You just have to put yourself out there.
This is a really good place to start. Getting your brand defined and starting to utilize FREE social media platforms to get things out there are critical to getting people to see who and what you are about. You’ve got to get out there to get seen. I challenge you to start posting content and videos that are congruent to your own personal brand!
