Are you living the life you were meant for?

I have been asking myself that very question lately. Sometimes I feel like if we feel like we were destined for more, or there is something else we should be doing it means that we are not grateful for the life we live now. That isn’t true. Some good friends and mentors of mine Ray & Jessica Higdon recommended this book called The War of Art by Steven Pressfield. It is an amazing book that really makes you think about your life. It talks about how we all have two lives. The life we were always meant to live, and the life we are living now.

Have you ever felt like you had more to offer the world? Have a ton of potential, and asking yourself could I do xyz or … Am I really a … ? Chances are you are. What is holding you back from doing the thing that scares the heck out of you? Resistance. Fear. Like self doubt, fear is a good indicator of what we need to do next. The more scared we are to do something, the more we actually need to break through that fear and do it.

The book goes on to talk about the resistance, the thing that stops you in your tracks from doing that thing you were put on this earth to do. It says our job in this life is not to shape ourselves into some ideal we imagine we ought to be but to find out who we already are and become it. I think we all have so many gifts buried deep down inside of us that we are so afraid to unleash. Those feelings that overwhelm you and stop you from becoming who you were always meant to be just keep you from your true self. It is actually sad that we allow these feelings to keep us in a chokehold and keep us from the life we were meant for. For the life that we all deserve. The only way to push through these feelings is action. You have to start taking action towards who you are and your destiny. I know that is easy to say, but once you start taking those little steps in the right direction you will realize that it is not so scary out there. You make it through the other side alive. I think we don’t come into our own a lot of the time because we are afraid to know we are more than we think we are. More than our friends ever believed we could be, and more than even our parents and children think we could be.

The book explains that the more important a calling is to your souls evolution, the more resistance you will feel to it. If it is something life changing, you will feel massive resistance or even terror towards it. You hear stories about artists that have crazy fears. Adele for example tells stories about actually projectile vomiting while on stage! Imagine that! Adele, with that amazing voice has stage fright. It seems crazy, but seriously … can you imagine her keeping that voice all to herself? What a shame that would be to all her fans and the people that enjoy her music. Think abotu all the amazing artists and talented people that we would never know if they allowed their resistance to stop them. Think about the thing that scares you the most, and keeping that locked up inside yourself is just selfish and a dis service to humanity. You have gifts inside you that you don’t even realize are there, you just have to push through the resistance and do it anyway.

I have plenty of fears and resistance to a lot of things. A few things in particular… I actually hate being put out there, being the center of attention, or speaking publicly like this blog for example. It makes me super uncomfortable, though it has been helping a lot of people and I am so grateful for that! If you are not getting uncomfortable, than you are not growing. So as I go along and find my true self, just know I am as uncomfortable as you are. Video will be my most frightening uncomfortable place yet. It is coming next as I work through my own resistance on that. People think that since I have all these companies and have been featured on QVC It must just be super easy for me doing those things. NO. Nada. I think I ate 25 lbs of cake after my first show on live national television. Super scary, though it really helped me grow as a person. I did not realize it then, but I love helping people. I love solving problems and creating solutions. I do it every day in my salon but just in a much more intimate setting with people I have known over 20 years. It ends up coming through in every business we have. Our Tigerlily Interchangeable Sandals solved the problem of packing an entire suitcase full of sandals and instead just having one pair that did what a whole suitcase of  sandals do! If you haven’t checked it out yet, take a minute and let me know what you think! That is just one of our products that helps people. I realized as I began this blog that these could also help to just even inspire or motivate people. So look out for Tyla Talk videos coming soon. I challenge you to look inside yourself and see what you are so resistant to and just do it. Take a step every day in that direction so you can come into the light and live the life you were always meant for. Unleash that inner rock star and find out who you already are and become it.
