So another year has passed and if you are like most of us, you are not where you thought you’d be. A year of abandoned resolutions and excuses for our shortcomings. Well, its time to put a stop to those limiting thoughts. Its time to let go of the past, forgive and forget and move on. From this point on you have a brand spanking new year to write your story. A blank slate. So what are you going to write this year? How about that amazing adventure you have always wanted to take? Or that business you’ve dreamed about? That person you think about but won’t ask out? What is stopping you from living the most incredible fulfilling life? You are!! You are the author of your story, so whatever is going on in it now is a cumulation of all the choices you’ve made this far. Maybe you think its too late to change directions? Well as long as you are alive it is never too late. One amazing choice after another can write the rest of your story. So whats it going to be this year? Another year of disappointments and failures? Or what if’s and if only’s? I have been listening to a lot of Tony Robbins and other personal development guru’s like him this year. I used to think that they were just blabbing on about self help mumbo jumbo, I was so WRONG! As I opened myself up to actually receiving the message they were sending, I realized they were absolutely right. I needed them to inspire me, to make me realize things that were stopping me from living my most amazing life. Here are some tips I learned that may help you have the most amazing year ever.
1. Get Inspired & feed your mind. You will have the biggest breakthroughs when you are inspired and enlightened. Read a book or learn some strategies that amazing successful people have used to get to where you want to be. When you realize the struggle that most entrepreneurs go through to get to the top, you will learn some of the shortcuts and have some insight as to what you can do to break through those plateaus.
2. Start a gratitude journal or jar. It is really hard to start your day in a negative space when you wake up and immediately write down a few things or even ONE thing you are grateful for. It sets your mind in a positive space and sets the stage for the day. You can go back and read them when you start getting a case of the “blah’s” or are just needing a pick me up. It is so important to put your mind in a good positive space each day, & this is an amazing exercise that can do that!
3. Don’t let fear stop you. Realizing your fears and pushing through them anyway is how we all grow in every aspect of our lives. Taking action is the best thing you can do to push through fear. Doing it anyway, no matter what. Once you get to the other side of that fear, you will realize nothing is that scary after all and every single time you keep pushing through it you will get stronger and more confident in yourself. This will enable you to do things you wouldn’t ordinarily do and take chances that you might not have taken.
4. Make yourself a priority. No one else is going to do this for you. You have to decide once and for all that you are worth it, and make yourself a priority in life. (I finally put this into practice this past year, and am finally feeling like “me” again!) Eat right, exercise, lose the weight. Give yourself the gift of yourself! It builds your confidence and your self esteem, and those are all things that you need to get to where you want to go.
5. Be crystal clear about your goals. Making goals is not enough. They have to be really specific, and then broken down so they are obtainable. People tell me about their goals all the time. Sometimes I don’t even think they think they will ever get them, & isn’t that just crazy? Being super specific makes things more tangible. Saying I want to lose weight is great, but saying “I will lose 25 pounds by July 1st” is so much better. Then you can make a specific plan and each action that you take should lead you back to your goal.
6. It’s not all about you! Take the focus off of yourself. If you think you have problems, go and help someone that needs it more than you do. Volunteer some time at your local soup kitchen, or donate to a family in need or anything like that. When you see what struggles others are going through it makes you realize you don’t have unsolvable problems. It puts everything into perspective & perspective is so valuable!
I hope these tips help you and you have the most amazing year of your life. We only have one life to live, so we need to live it to the fullest! Comment and let me know what you are going to do this year to make this your best year!
